What certified means

The requirements come from Honda, and Honda publishes them: age and mileage limits, a manufacturer-specified inspection, a vehicle history report, and an extended limited warranty backed by Honda rather than by the dealer.

The practical part: it’s been checked against a manufacturer standard rather than against a dealership’s own.

What our used inventory offers

Plenty of great cars sit just outside the certification window, and we carry vehicles from other manufacturers too.

Used costs less, and for a lot of families that’s exactly the right call.

Finding your fit

Certified is great if you’re keeping the car for years, you drive enough to use the coverage, you’re financing and want repair costs predictable, or you’d simply rather have somebody else do the checking.

Used is great if budget is the priority, it’s a second or third car for the household, you drive light miles, or you have a mechanic you already trust.

Either way, three things. Ask for the vehicle history report. Take a real test drive and get it up to highway speed. And ask for the out-the-door price in writing. More on what to ask here.

An independent inspection

If you’d like your own mechanic to look at a car before you buy, that’s a completely normal thing to want, and it’s worth asking about wherever you shop.

One note on financing

Certified vehicles sometimes qualify for promotional rates that used vehicles don’t, which can narrow the price gap between the two. That’s worth running the actual numbers on rather than assuming.

Come drive both

The easiest way to decide is to drive a certified one and a comparable used one back to back on the same afternoon. Most people know which is theirs within twenty minutes.
