Your Guide to Financing a Honda in The Bronx
Financing is the part people ask us about most, so here’s a clear walkthrough of how it works and what to bring.

What happens in the finance office
Three things. Your financing gets finalized, the sale paperwork gets completed, and you’re offered a few optional products. That’s the whole visit.
The four numbers to watch
Out-the-door price. Everything, all in, to drive it home.
APR. What borrowing costs, based on your credit, the loan length, and whether the car is new, certified, or used.
Term. How many months. A longer term means a smaller monthly payment and more total interest, so it’s worth choosing on purpose.
Amount financed. Out-the-door price, minus your down payment, minus your trade, plus anything rolled over from an old loan.
Ask for all four and the whole picture gets clear fast. We’re happy to walk through them with you.
What to bring
This is the biggest time-saver there is.
- Driver’s license
- Proof of insurance
- Proof of income, usually recent pay stubs, or tax paperwork if you’re self-employed
- Proof of address, if your license still has an older one
- Trading in? The title, or your lender’s name and account number if there’s a loan on it, plus the registration and all the keys
That last one is the one people forget, so go grab the spare now!
If your credit is complicated
Credit affects your rate. That’s true at every dealership and at every bank, and anybody who tells you otherwise isn’t being straight with you.
One genuinely useful move: get pre-approved at your own bank or credit union before you shop. It gives you a real number to compare against, and it makes every conversation after that easier.

The optional products
You’ll be offered a few: extended service contracts, gap coverage, appearance protection.
They’re real products and plenty of customers want them. Gap coverage is especially worth understanding if you’re financing with a small down payment, since it covers the difference between what you owe and what the car is worth if it’s totaled.
Whatever you’re offered, it’s fair to ask what it costs on its own, what it does for you, and whether it’s optional.
Take your time
Read the paperwork at whatever pace you like, and ask questions. It’s a big purchase and there’s no reason to rush the last twenty minutes of it.
